CUSTOMER IS #1 AT OSC
Oshawa Ski Club recognized as best in snow business by the Canadian Ski Council

When it comes to listening to their customers, Oshawa Ski Club (OSC) is one of the best resorts in Canada, according to the Canadian Ski Council (CSC). OSC is one of five winners of the 2008-2009 Canadian Ski Council Industry Recognition and Excellence Research Award to be presented this July in Whistler.

The CSC Industry Recognition and Excellence Research Awards are presented to ski areas from each province or region of Canada whom have proven to have an outstanding record of customer loyalty, excellence in customer satisfaction and strong commitment to increasing growth in skiing and snowboarding. Other 2008-2009 recipients include: Sun Peaks Resort, British Columbia; Sunshine Village Resort, Alberta; Massif du Sud, Quebec; and Marble Mountain, Newfoundland.

"This is a tremendous honour for Oshawa Ski Club," says Mark Rutherford, General Manager. "We aren’t a big western mountain resort and we don’t pretend to be. But, we do take great pride in providing the best guest experience in Ontario. Whether you’re new to the sport or an experienced pro we strive everyday to make OSC the place you want to bring your friends and family.”

The 2008-2009 CSC Industry Recognition and Excellence Research Awards winners will be recognized at the CSC State of the Ski and Snowboard Industry Conference that is taking place at the Hilton Whistler Resort and Spa from July 6th to 8th, 2009. The Awards reception and dinner will take place on Tuesday, July 7 at 6:00 p.m..

A special thanks to all the members and guests who took the time to fill out a survey this past season and to all the hardworking staff members who help conduct these on-hill surveys, rain or shine!

Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance awards presented to Oshawa Ski Club instructors!

On Thursday May 28 2009 the Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance held their AGM at the Delta Hotel in Markham. It was a great evening organized by our very own John Martin. The Oshawa Ski Club was well represented at the event with three instructors recieving recognition.

Sandra Crandall received the Award of Merit as ski instructor of the year, from the Oshawa Ski Club.

Bob Moore was honoured as Course Conductor of the Year for Ontario. Bob has been conducting Level 1 courses for many years, and a large number of those who have received their Level 1 have done so in one of Bob's courses, or had assistance from Bob and know what a phenomenal job he does.

The most prestigious award of the evening was presented to John Nicholls. John was inducted into the CSIA Hall of Fame. John has been an active member in the CSIA for over 48 years, he started the Snow School at the Oshawa Ski Club in 1962 and has been an active director, supervisor and instructor during most of the years since. John was head course conductor for the CSIA and was also on the Board for many years. He was also a partner in SKI-CAN, one of the largest ski travel company's in Canada. John's acceptance speech captivated the audience and ended with a standing ovation.

Congratulations Sandra, Bob and John, great work!
